FDA Proposed Cigarette Warning Labels

Because the FDA feels that a clearer point has to be depicted on cigarette packages in order to get across that they're bad, they've gone ahead and set about designing more graphic images.

I don't really know how I feel about this. I think it's a bit silly that they are proposing using some of this imagery. And do they really think it's going to stop someone from smoking? In this day and age, it's very well known what the health risks of smoking are to people, and there are plenty of graphic campaigns up.

That was done several years ago in Canada, with mixed results. It did prompt a few people to stop. It mostly prompted a resurgence of the market for cigarette accessories such as carrying cases (ranging from ziploc bag, to filigreed metal cases).

You can see some of the images used... they tend to be gruesome.

Seems like they're overstepping their bounds a little bit.

I hate cigarettes and tobacco in general, but I don't really think this is an acceptable way to combat them.

This is how they look in all of Asia. I find them more amusing than anything else.
